Sage is a relative of the Lip flower family and it is especially known from the Italian kitchen. The leafs are thick, grey, and have a strong aroma. The sage vegetation grows in June and July with purple and white flowers.

That's why we call them sometimes sea asparagus. Besides salts (sodium, potassium and calcium) Salicornia accumulates a lot of minor elements (Iron, Iodium, Cupper...) Fresh Salicornia can be eaten raw or quickly fried . The vegetable fits well with fish dishes.
