Marjoram originates from Soutern-Europe. It already has been known for ages in Europe. Marjoram has a strong aroma, which resembles to thyme, but tastes a little sweeter and more gentle. Marjoram is often used in the Greek, Italian, and Spanish kitchen. It was also introduced in Mexico, via Spain, were it became really populair.
Salicornia sp. belongs to the family of the Chenopodiaceae (Amaranthaceae) A plant family that holds among it vegetables like spinach, beet. The young green tips are harvested in a very young stage. That's why we call them sometimes sea asparagus. Besides salts (sodium, potassium and calcium) Salicornia accumulates a lot of minor elements (Iron, Iodium, Cupper...) Fresh Salicornia can be eaten raw or quickly fried . The vegetable fits well with fish dishes.
